Learn why we must trust God with our prayers and our lives.
Have you ever in desperation or frustration wanted to emphatically say to God, “Show me!” Yes, show me how you are working in my life, how you are healing me, or show me the solution to the dilemma that is tearing my family apart. Often as we pray for answers or relief from challenging and protracted life circumstances or serious illnesses, we struggle when our prayers are not answered instantly or with the results we wanted. At that troublesome moment, we may even think that God has forgotten us or misunderstood our request. In our frantic attempts to find healing or deliverance, we fail to listen for God’s voice as He whispers, “trust me.” We forget that scripture in the Bible, tells us, “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. Jeremiah 17:7 (NIV).
Struggle.
Several years ago my mother was gravely ill in the hospital and subsequently succumbed to her illness. I remember praying for her healing and even tried bargaining with God to let her live a few more years. After her death, I remember questioning why God had not answered like I prayed. It wasn’t until later that I realized that God knew best and that she was no longer suffering. If I had fully trusted God to know and do what was best, my mother’s death would not have been so hard on me. My mother was happier than she had ever been and was no longer in pain. Even though I missed her and still do, I finally understood that she was happy because she was in Heaven with my dad and Jesus, the ultimate hope of every believer.
Lesson Learned
However, I was like Job in the Bible, who wanted an explanation, an answer for his suffering and the loss of all his possessions and his family. Job voiced his yearning in Job 31:35 (KJV), “Oh that one would hear me! behold my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me…” Job did not understand why he had lost everything including his children and had been physically afflicted. Neither his wife nor his friends could help him with the answer and God seemed to be silent to his pleas. Finally, in Job 38, God answered him by giving Job a tour of the universe, asking him questions beginning with the foundation of the earth and ending with Leviathan—inquiries that Job was at a loss to answer. God wanted Job, like us, to trust Him even when he failed to understand what He is doing for him and with him.
The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV), “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” We are to trust, rely on God through the good times and the bad times—during times of blessing or when we are suffering. We are to trust God to know what we need and what is the best for us. As we learn to depend on God fully, our worries and anxieties will begin to vanish, changing to joy and peace. Our faith will grow and prepare us for the next situation that cause us pain and turmoil.

God doesn’t ask us to understand what He is doing but to trust Him to do what is best. We must learn to stop thinking and saying, “Show me,” and just trust God because of who He is, His wisdom, and character. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NIV)

Wow! Thank you Sister Juanita for sharing “Show Me Trust The Answer”
Your writing is comforting and gives us much encouragement. At times we all need to be reminded of God’s Will in our lives and to trust Him with every situation. HE is our loving Creator, and on that glorious day when we meet Him face to face we will understand all the ‘Why’s’ , all the ‘Why not’s.’
