Pause – Why?
In this busy, crazy world why bother to pause? Why stop in the moment and let go? The answer is compelling for both spiritual and perhaps surprisingly physical reasons.
First in Psalm 46:10 (NIV) God says,:
“Be still and know that I am God.”
Trust God and listen for that quiet still voice. Don’t miss it. For it informs His will for your life.
God speaks to me through the tranquility of His creation. I stop writing and gaze out of my window. I see the rolling peaks of the Whetstone mountains beautifully enveloped in pure white snow—my spirit quiets, my soul rests. I am with God—I can hear when he speaks! What a contrast with how I feel in man’s creations of concrete cities crisscrossed with paved highways and traffic jams.
Second, I was curious why my iphone (oh my!) seems so enthusiastic about encouraging me to meditate, to pause and reflect on a daily basis. I researched this, doing my due-dilly (due-diligence). Science has shown that meditation reduces stress hormones and anxiety, calming the mind, it promotes a positive outlook and better self-awareness, improves concentration and focus, may help in pain management and promotes sleep by producing relaxation.
By making this a daily habit I will hear God more and be healthier to do his work.
I am going to give it a try. How about you?

What a simple, yet challenging idea! Thanks for the encouragement.
