Mornings with God
Somedays I climb out of bed with a joyous enthusiasm ready to greet the day that God has prepared for me. Some mornings I arise and slip quietly outside to sit and listen to the morning as it comes alive with God’s glorious burst of laughter. In the book of Psalms David the chief musician lifted up his voice for a morning prayer and a thought in the night.
“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning, will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Psalms 5:3 (KJV)
“Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.” Psalms 4;3 (KJV)
He began to Write my Story
Before I set my path of life for God, I remember days when the morning lights beckoned me to lift my head and begin my days, but I felt useless, hopeless and desolate.
David sang a prayer of a soul in distress
“Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.” Psalms 143:4 (KJV)
I cannot say that my Christian journey to live Christ-like has been a path without struggles; days have come and gone that I have felt like a fruitless tree bearing no spiritual fruit. But there are times that I believe God walks us or brings someone anointed into our lives that is there to help us replenish, so that we can bear spiritual fruit. But at times I have failed to recognize the direction in which Christ is leading. Perhaps it is days or weeks before realizing God is still writing my story. John 15:2 (KJV)
“Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” John 15:2 (KVJ)
Whether it is teaching, speaking or writing that is when we realize the work God has in store for us. I see where He has been building me up for years for a work He has in store for me to do, so that I can use that gift to share His message with others. Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)
He is Still Writing my Story – Retirement
Retirement, the new chapter in my life, many plans were made for my daily activities, travels and all sorts of new adventures. Assuredly my plans included God. Or did they? Then one day during my morning awakenings, while sitting in the silence of a glorious sunrise, God’s revelation was so clearly revealed to me. God wanted me to serve Him and plan my life according to His will Psalms 40:5 (NJV). A moment of discernment, a moment of obtaining spiritual guidance and understanding. Without providing a time of healing and discernment, there will be no hope of living through this present moment with shattering a common life.
All too often we plan our lives to live for God, but most assuredly we should live God’s plan. Then our life will move accordingly. Each day is not a beginning but a continuation of our story.
“Who hath saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purposes and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” 2 Timothy 1:9 (KJV)
